An Age of Glory features new work by Cal Arts MFA candidates Nicolas Grenier and Rachel McRae. The exhibition is a critical look at the absurdity of grand ideals expressed through architecture within the United States from the half-removed viewpoint of two resident foreigners. Exploring glorious failures of great ideas and ideologies, the works untangle lost objectives of the utopian project and the semi-forgetfulness of historic Classical revival after times of conflict within the milieu of American late capitalism. In a land equally haunted by its past and hobbled with dreams for the future, one must keep building.
